"Taking it to the course" has long been a problem for most amatuers. If you can hit it on the range, you can hit it on the course. The trick to hitting it on the course like you do on the range is having a great pre-shot routine that also has a focused rehearsal swing. (I'll be willing to bet you don't practice that on the range, though.)

David Duval played a great tournament at last week's AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am and finished T-2. I think his is one of the best stories in modern golf. To go from being the number one player in the world to falling off the edge of the golf map is enough to send anyone into the depths of obscurity. But to come back from that with the determination and class that Duval has demonstrated is inspiring, to say the least.

If your New Year's Resolution is to really improve your game this year, you need to have a step-by-step plan. You not only need to know where you are now with your game and your swing, but where you want be (hopefully a neutral, non-compensating swing free of mistakes). You should develop this plan with your instructor and most importantly, stick to the plan.

For parents who want to get their young kids into golf the best thing to do is to let them see you enjoying the game too! Keep it somewhat competitive, but most importantly, FUN!

Try to learn from every swing and find something positive, no matter how good or bad the shot may turn out. For example, if the ball started low but straight and then curved to the right you can tell that you contacted the equator of the ball with the leading edge of the club and the face was open, but at least your path was good (down the line, not left or right). So instead of turning away in disgust and getting frustrated, watch the ball's flight (trajectory, starting direction, and curvature) and learn from your mistakes.

Any 'Swing Tip' can work temporarily. For lasting improvement, you need to get to the root cause with your PGA Professional.

...Well I did say "As long as his touch with the putter remains good".

With one of the most repeatable swings out there, it's no surprise to see Tiger win two weeks in a row. As long as his touch with the putter remains good, look for him to go three in a row next week at the PGA Championship at Hazeltine.
